Baseball in Muskogee has deep roots. The Muskogee Mets had two different stints representing the city. They first took the field from 1914-1916, then again from 1921-1923 playing in the Southwestern League. The Mets played their home games at was originally called Owen Park at 5th and Boston. A new grandstand was built in 1921 and the name was changed to Athletic Park.
